Dishwasher repair for Mukilteo households on every kind of schedule
With Paine Field and the Boeing plant next door, plenty of Mukilteo dishwashers run on delay start or overnight, and faults get found the next morning. We fix stalled cycles, leaks, latches and boards, reaching Harbour Pointe in 16–20 minutes and Old Town in 24–30.

Mukilteo grew alongside the aircraft industry. The Boeing plant opened just east of town in 1967, and the Harbour Pointe planned community, begun in 1978 and annexed in 1991, doubled the city's size. Shift work at the plant and the airport is part of life for many households, and so are dishwashers set to run late at night or on delay start while the household sleeps or works. That habit is perfectly reasonable, but it means a fault often runs for hours before anyone sees it, and we hear about it the next morning as a puddle, a stalled display or a load of dirty dishes.
Housing ages vary by neighborhood. Harbour Pointe's homes mostly went up in the 1980s and 90s and are on their second or third dishwasher. Old Town, around the lighthouse and the ferry terminal, is the original townsite, with houses of many ages and kitchens remodeled to suit the view. Picnic Point, just outside the city in the Mukilteo School District, is mostly houses from the 1960s and 70s. Our technicians see a different mix of failures in each, and we try to bring parts to match: heaters and boards for the busy Harbour Pointe machines, latches and gaskets for the remodels, and drain parts for the older Picnic Point kitchens.

- Likely cause
- Control board fault or failed user interface
- What we do

Gurgling drain in an older Picnic Point kitchen
- Likely cause
- Restricted house drain or missing high loop

Night runs, Harbour Pointe kitchens and Everett water
If your dishwasher normally runs overnight, a few habits protect the house. Once it has leaked even once, run it only while someone is awake and nearby until it has been checked. A battery leak alarm at the toe kick is inexpensive and wakes you before a slow drip reaches the subfloor. And if the display shows the same time remaining for a long while, the machine may be waiting for water that never gets hot enough; that points to the heater or its temperature sensor rather than a timer problem. Modern machines run long cycles on purpose, often two hours or more, so a long run alone is not a fault.
Harbour Pointe kitchens are mostly 1990s builds with standard 24-inch openings, and replacement machines slide in easily. That makes the repair-or-replace choice more about the machine than the house. In Old Town, remodeled kitchens sometimes hold panel-ready or drawer units, and some older houses have tighter cabinets. Around Picnic Point, drain lines dating from the 1960s and 70s can be the real cause of a slow drain, and we check the house side before blaming the pump.
Most of the city gets water from the Mukilteo Water and Wastewater District, which buys from the Alderwood district and ultimately from Everett's Spada Reservoir, at around 12.5 ppm of hardness. That is very soft. Use less detergent than the package says, and keep rinse aid filled; glasses will thank you. A milky film that a vinegar soak removes is residue; one that stays is etching from too much detergent, and only a lighter dose stops it spreading.
What Mukilteo dishwasher repairs start at
Mukilteo dishwasher repair starts at $255. A latch that no longer catches and a failed drain pump are the common jobs, while machines that lose their settings or ignore delay start usually need electronics, and a control board sits at the upper end. That figure is the low end of the category across our north-metro area rather than a quote for your kitchen. The firm figure for your model is written down after the $85 diagnostic, and you approve it before we begin. There is no added charge for the longer drive to Old Town or the bluff streets above the water.

Deciding on repair or replacement in Mukilteo
For a Harbour Pointe kitchen, replacement is mechanically easy because the openings are standard, so the decision rests on the machine. A five- to ten-year-old Bosch, KitchenAid or GE with a failed pump, latch or heater is worth repairing. A machine past twelve years that needs a control board, or one whose tub has started to rust near the door, is usually better replaced. If a board failure is the only problem and the rest of the machine is sound, repair still often wins, especially on premium brands. In Old Town and Picnic Point, where cabinet openings and panels vary, repair gains an edge because replacement can mean carpentry. Shift workers who rely on delay start should also weigh how much they use those electronic features, since boards cost more than mechanical parts. Picnic Point owners with 1970s kitchens may also find the opening slightly out of square after decades of settling, which is worth measuring first. We give you the numbers and our view, and you decide.
Common questions
Is it normal for my dishwasher to run more than two hours?
Yes. Current energy-saving machines use less water and lower heat, so they wash for longer. Two to three hours is common on normal or auto cycles. What is not normal is a display that stays on the same time remaining for an hour or more, which usually means the water is not reaching temperature.
Is it safe to run my dishwasher overnight?
For a machine in good condition, generally yes. If it has leaked, tripped a breaker or shown a fault, run it only while you are awake until it has been checked. A small battery water alarm at the base is a sensible precaution in any home where the dishwasher often runs unattended.
How long does it take you to reach Old Town?
Old Town and the ferry area are about 24–30 minutes from our Mountlake Terrace shop off-peak, via I-5 and SR 525. Harbour Pointe is closer, about 16–20 minutes. There is no distance surcharge for either, and same-day visits are usual when you reach us in the morning.
Do you serve Picnic Point?
Yes. Picnic Point, the unincorporated area south of Harbour Pointe, is part of our regular routes and about 15–19 minutes from the shop. Many homes there were built in the 1960s and 70s, so we check the house drain and the under-sink plumbing as part of any slow-drain diagnosis.
Why does detergent stay caked in the cup?
The cup must stay dry until it opens. If dishes drip into it while loading, or a pod is placed in a damp cup, it can clump. A cup door that opens weakly or late has the same effect. Load carefully, use the right amount, and if the door still does not open fully, the dispenser needs repair.
